It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maria Anthropelou Bizdikian, beloved mother, wife, and respected teacher, on March 2, 2025 at the age of 90.

Maria Anthropelou Bizdikian was born on June 20, 1934, in Tinos Greece, and throughout her life, she exemplified strength, grace, and dedication. She was a loving and dedicated wife to Hrair Bizdikian and an extraordinary mother to Lydia and Kosta Bizdikian.

Professionally, Maria was a trailblazer in her field. She received a university degree in business from the university of Athens, so rare for a woman in Greece at the time. She worked as an accountant in her early years in Greece where she met and fell in love with Hrair Bizdikian and then followed her heart when she emigrated to Canada and became a teacher where she was known for her unparalleled work ethic, leadership, and compassion. She dedicated 30 years to teaching as well as being a pioneer in the installation of daycare in schools in Montreal, leaving a lasting impact on her colleagues, students, and the community. Her dedication to her profession was matched only by her devotion to her family. In fact, when she retired the school board gave her awards of achievement as well as planting a tree in her name so that she would always be close to the school.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Maria was deeply committed to her family and loved ones. She was a nurturing mother who inspired her children with her values of kindness, perseverance, and empathy. Her love for her family knew no bounds, and her wisdom, openness, and strength will be missed by all who knew her.

Maria Anthropelou Bizdikian  is survived by her children Lydia and Kosta Bizdikian, her daughter-in law Margaret Reizian, her grandchildren Gabriel and Elizabeth Bizdikian, her brother and sister-in-law Manoli and Klea Anthropelou, and her extended Bizdikian and Anthropelou families, along with a wide circle of close family friends, colleagues, and admirers. She is preceded in death her spouse Hrair Bizdikian and her sister Georgia Anthropelou Karras

A funeral service, memorial service, will be held at Salon Funéraire Komitas – Monday, March 10, 2025 from 18h to 21h
Cemetery Service: Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at 11:00 at Urgel Bourgie Cemetery Montreal

Maria Anthropelou Bizdikian will be remembered for her exceptional contributions to her family, her profession,her students, her community and the many lives she touched. Her legacy of love, strength, and professional etiquette will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
