Tasia (Konstantopoulos) Kanellopoulos September 21 , 1939 - August 23 , 2025
We announce with profound sadness the passing of Tasia Konstantopoulos Kanellopoulos, at the age of 85, with her daughters Pota and Georgia by her side.
Born in Vordonia, Sparta in Greece, she was the cherished daughter of Christos and Afroditi Konstantopoulos, and the eldest sister of the late George Konstantopoulos (Eudokia), Angela Hatziiliou (the late Andrea), Evangelos Konstantopoulos (Bessy) and Panayotis Konstantopoulos.
Tasia immigrated to Montreal in 1959 to be with her fiancé, the late Christos Kanellopoulos, where they would begin their lives together. She became the sister in law of the late Nikos Kanellopoulos (the late Zaharo), and other siblings in Greece. Tasia and Christos became the parents of three adoring daughters, Pota, Afroditi and Georgia.
Tasia’s journey through life was marked by her strength of character, resilience, generosity, and above all, her devotion to her family.
She faced adversity early on when her Christos passed away at a young age, leaving her to raise three young women on her own. She persevered with fortitude, taking over Christos’ maintenance business and succeeding through hard work and with the support of members of her extended family.
At home, Tasia’s house and garden were immaculate. There was always food prepared, ready to share with any friend or family member who stopped by. Her home was always open, a place where everyone felt welcome.
Of course family was her greatest passion. The proud mother of Pota, Afroditi (Charles), Georgia, she was also beloved “Yiayia” to Alexandra (Matthew), Christina (Petar), and great grandmother to Luka, Leo and Charlie. She was also aunt to many nieces, nephews, and their children.
Later in her life, Tasia endured another challenge, suffering from Alzheimer’s. As the disease progressed, she became reliant on those she used to care for. Remarkably she remained in her beloved home to the very end, with God’s grace, and through the devotion of Pota and Georgia.
Our mom truly was a pillar of strength, courage and acceptance. May we carry her spirit forward, as we celebrate her life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Greek Orthodox Church of the Archangels Michael and Gabriel.
