Sosi Tahanian 05 décembre 1955 - 21 février 2026
To our beloved sister and aunt, Sosi Tahanian was a strong, funny, generous, and deeply caring woman whose presence brought warmth and light into every room she entered. She was a wonderful wife, a devoted sister, and a loving aunt who gave endless love and dedication to her family.
She was born on December 5, 1955, in Beirut, Lebanon, and came to Canada in 1982 at the age of 27. She was the eldest of four siblings and the beloved sister of Gabriel, Sarkis, and Maral. With courage and determination, she embraced a new life in Canada and built a home centered on love and family.
She had a special gift for making people feel welcome. Her home was always open, her table was always full, and her heart was always generous. She expressed her love through cooking, preparing meals that brought family together and created lasting memories. She loved hosting gatherings, and every holiday was joyfully celebrated at her home, where the whole family would come together. Being surrounded by those she loved was her greatest happiness.
She was someone who always gave more than anyone expected, finding true joy in making others happy. Her generosity knew no limits, and to us, she was simply the very best.
During Christmas, she would spoil us with so many presents that they practically took over the entire room, it felt like Santa himself had moved in just for us. At Easter, she made sure each of us received our own special basket, beautifully filled with thoughtful gifts and endless chocolates, making us feel uniquely loved every single time.
Sosi also had an adventurous spirit and loved travelling around the world. She embraced new places and cultures with curiosity and excitement, always returning home with gifts and stories to share. She was deeply creative and talented, with a passion for designing and tailoring clothing, expressing her elegance and artistry through every piece she crafted. She also found great joy in arranging beautiful floral bouquets, bringing beauty and warmth to those around her. She was actively involved in the Armenian community and church, where she gave her time generously, built meaningful friendships, and was always ready to help others.
Above all, she adored her nieces and nephews and took great joy in spoiling them. Her love for her family was unconditional, and she showed it through her warmth, laughter, and constant support.
She was dedicated to her community.
Being Armenian was part of her DNA, and she served in many different capacities, most notably as a lifelong member of the Armenian Relief Society. Her Church community (Sourp Kevork in Laval) was also close to her heart, and she found joy in supporting in any way she could. Through her generosity, she was instrumental in the purchase of the Armenian Cemetery in Laval, as well as the stone Khatchkar of the church among many others.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and generosity. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will live on in our hearts.
To us, she was not only our aunt and sister, she was our everything, and she will forever remain in our hearts.
