Anahid Hasmig (Guzelimian) Balian 08 janvier 1935 - 19 décembre 2024

Anahid Hasmig (Guzelimian) Balian, born January 8th, 1935, passed away peacefully on December 19th, 2024. Anahid was a beacon of love, intelligence and generosity. She leaves behind a legacy that will forever be cherished by her family and friends.

Anahid was the beloved wife of the late Zaven Balian and the cherished daughter of Loudere Guzelimian and Loucine Levonian. As a sister, she was dearly loved by her siblings Hermine Nazarian and her late brother Harry Guzelimian. Anahid’s nurturing spirit was most evident in her role as mother to Sylvia Balian (Garo Osganian) and as grandmother to Jennifer Osganian (Eric Attard) and Marlene Osganian (Jesse Fournier). Her love extended to her great-grandchildren Siena, Roman and Delphine Attard as well as Asher and Hunter Fournier.

Anahid had a reputation for having a sharp intellect, being generous and compassionate. She was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Visitors are welcome to offer their condolences to the family as of 10:30 am on December 23rd at Sourp Hagop Armenian Church (3401 Rue Olivar-Asselin, Montreal, Quebec, H4J1L5) followed by a service to honor and celebrate Anahid’s life at 11am. Memorial donations may be made to Sourp Hagop Armenian Church in lieu of flowers.

Anahid will be deeply missed but we take comfort in knowing that her memory will live on in all those whose lives she touched. May she rest in eternal peace.

Dear Guzelimian and Balian family,
I knew Anahid, Herminé, Hatoutioun (Harry) and their very respected father Baron Loudere.
As a young kid I played one of the Avedis Aharonian’s play « VAZRIG » at the Greek « Estia » club and Zaven played as the « khmpabed » of a group of 7 fedayees. Haigaz Kaloustian was the priest in the play.
I played basketball with Haroutiun at the « Ararat » marzaran with Varoujan Kazandjian among others.
I have good memories about the past.
Asdvadz togh Anahidin hokin lousavoré.
